How to get technical support

The following steps have worked for me:

1. Contact technical support at the vendor in question (in this case HP)

2. Fail to get the support needed

3. Write blog post criticizing the company's technical support

4. Have blog post appear on front page of Google search results when looking for procurve support

5. Receive response from head of technical support giving his personal email address.

That sounds like a pretty good plan to me.

But what about step 6, 7 and 8? Having an email address to write to doesn't in itself cure the problem, does it?

At least they seem to use email: Oracle's [horrible] ticketing system sends email from an address which bounces and the techs tend to call even if you specifically requested email. Granted, this is probably intentional - email leaves an inconvenient record when they change their story or "forget" to do what they promised.
